Is there a moment
When everything changes
When we and our world
Feel a moment of grace?
But if only the world
Quite apart from us
Escapes those cruel feet
Trampling down the gifts of life
We too will fall beneath the breakers
That break whomever stands apart
From the joy and sorrow, the life and death
That come to all who arrive here.
For Earth is not just our mother
Earth is in our care
And if we grow up in time
We will meet the miracle of our own birth.
