Three Arms Better Than One

It’s so nice to see you
Stepping up and doing so much
That I used to do.

It’s almost worth falling
And breaking my right wrist
To be doing so much together.

We’re both learning new things
You the tasks that I took as mine
Me trying on an unexpected future.

While you are helping me
With blood pressure cuff, dishes,
Cooking, opening jars, so much more,

I am pecking away with my left hand–
Easier than reading my left-listing scrawl–
As I settle for a smaller plate of nouns and verbs.

Will this last for a few months
Or are these the new tenants
Announcing they are moving in?

  1. Living with limits… painful. You did a great job “pecking” with your left hand! I love the line… a smaller plate of nouns and verbs. Take good care,
